History and Affiliations

Burleigh Mears created Naegele & Mears, CPAs with Gordon Naegele, who was semi-retired, in 1987 so that he could help more businesses and families save money on their taxes.

In 1993, Gordon died and soon after, Burleigh extended an invitation to Gordon's son, Jay, to join the firm.

Jay was working for Johns Hopkins Health System and saw returning to public accounting as an opportunity to again assist businesses and individuals with their financial needs and apply his unique knowledge of the medical industry's accounting needs to medical-related businesses in the Atlanta area.

Jay also brought a high value on technology and its ability to contribute to a firm's productivity and accuracy, a value with which Burleigh wholeheartedly agreed.

Today the firm uses that technology to seamlessly integrate taxation and accounting applications:

*  Multiple state taxation
*  Multiple businesses for the same family
*  Large family tax planning
*  Electronic tax filing
*  Electronic tax organizers
*  Electronic financial statements
*  Clients in other states
*  Tax preparation through the mail
*  Tax paperwork received through e-mail
*  Business accounting received through e-mail
*  Scanning and electronic storage of records

The firm is a member of the AICPA and is reviewed for accuracy and compliance with documentation standards by its peers once every three years.
